Movies Like Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham

Seriously, why can't this movie be remade!?

It's not that SRK is my fav actor and I love the pair and all, it's all about family. So, this one is all: __ reasons to watch K3G

1. Actors, obviously:

They are all good and young (except Kareena: over-acting; but well, it suits her). Bachchan is doing the great 'Paa' role who is so much into the culture thing - just like Mohabbatein movie. SRK is the adopted son and beloved to his mom (typical bollywood). Kido actors are all too good. Hrithik is okay, but his acting comes up with all music in the background and his oh-so-sad-face. (It's so much emotional to see 3 actors crying in bollywood: Amitabh, SRK, and Hrithik. And they are all in this movie, that's why it's damn-lady-you're-crying emotional movie!)(Whoa! Why Hollywood movies don't show the male actors crying? I mean, I can't even remember any scene! Well, Ryan Gosling makes me cry, so he can be in the list, MAYBE)
I don't like Jaya Bachchan, so can't comment on her. Kajol is the best in this movie. Even though it is all due to her Kuch Kuch Hota Hai - 'Anjali' role, it's different than that. In the previous movie, she's all grown up & mature (read, serious) instantly, and in K3G, even though she is shown as a mom, she's too cool keeping her character. There are emotions for her son, her husband, her nation, her 'Babuji', but there is still the old Anjali inside her. I know it's about the story, but that turn of liveliness in maturity is seen in K3G's Anjali and not KKHH's.

2. Story:

It's a family movie. It was known to be the modern family thing in old times. How the business is set from generation to generation, how they live, how the people see all those rich-respected families, and how everyone wants their family together but can't keep it. People say there is over exaggeration: I accept that, otherwise this movie would not be the same. (Mostly the London times, I agree) Still, how the story is set is perfect. Even though we want to be together, there are questions of the certainty that the other person will accept us. There is something in us that we can't say how much we love a person, we can't say how we can't live without them. There's ego that we can't share our problems with our inferiors. The story is all told in 2 scenes: 'Mr. Raichand stood up straight and his wife standing in front of him, on a chair, setting his tie on the suit' and after years, 'She is having a पूजा की थाली in her hands, stood straight in front of Mr. Raichand, without chair, and he is bending his head for tilak'; all about Mr. Raichand saying a dialogue: "कह दिया, बस कह दिया" showing his ego and position, to Mrs. Raichand saying the same in the climax.

3. Direction and Music:

I know, we all laughed when AIB roast had this 'aaaa' music fun from the Dharma Production which belongs to this movie, but actually, it is good. The Tabla and Sitar music in the background make this movie so much more Indian! The storytelling and the direction, so modern for those days, lead this movie to a level on which 'Hum Sath Sath Hai' or 'Hum Apke Hai Kaun' couldn't get to. We all think that the songs that our bollywood movies have are not worth our time. (How can you watch 3-4 hours of movie with total time pass songs in the middle!?) Well, on that point, I loved Priyanka Chopra, when she was asked about the 'La La Land' in the Jimmy Fallon show and she said, "That movie is really good. The actors did it well. But there's nothing new for us. Actors dancing on the songs in the romantic movies is common in our Bollywood."
*Me clapping: "Bravo... Bravo..." *

4. Dialogues:

A. The above mentioned one in point1.
B. अगर ज़िन्दगी में कुछ बनना हो, कुछ हाँसिल करना हो, जितना चाहते हो... (Watch the movie, seriously!)
C. Whole of the 'अशफ़ाक़ मियाँ' part
D. All the dialogues of Johnny Lever.
E. "Hallelujah" by Poo (અમદાવાદી ભાષામાં કઇએ તો- 'કલર')
F. Not the dialogue, but acting of both Jr and Sr Raichands on "बाबूजी जैसा बनना चाहता हूँ, जैसा वो चलते है...अभी खड़े है, वैसे..."
G. "Cookies... I love cookies... इससे अच्छे तो हम चांदनी चौक में ही थे" part

Etc. Etc.

Bookish Time:
Even though K3G is KJo's the biggest hit (even though it broke the blockbuster records and earned a lot), he was depressed at the release time due to news on 'Lagaan' being nominated for Oscar. Yes, no one today remembers both movies were released in the same week. (Don't compare 'em, people!)

PS. I have my answers ready if you say anything bad about this movie. I know we have different perspectives, but still, try to watch it what it actually is.

PSS. I watched Bahubali because people forced me. I'm not doing that to you. But if you have even 1% of doubt that your views can change after this, please watch it. (It comes on television every week!)
