Roots of Motivation

Exam is coming | sibling’s wedding is there | My mind is all messed up.

So what I need is motivation.
You don’t realize but motivation comes in odd kind of ways, and you’re motivated when you have least expected it.

So, here’s what I believe:

You’re a tree. The branches are all your work. But to grow yourself and to remain healthy and positive, you need water and nutrition, which is knowledge. Now, to gain it, you expect your limbs and brain to do some efforts and that’s how you’ll grow. To take the nutrition and water, you’ll definitely need the root. The chief root is motivation.

From a cartoonist to a writer, from an actor to a politician, from a family member or a friend to an unknown social media follower, I take inspiration. My idols are too many. It’s not that they all have to be creative or some great people! Everyone is unique. If you’re following one as a role model, aren’t you doing injustice to yourself? You’re a whole different person; just think that you and your idol are from different families, schools, at least, you’ve faced different situations in life; if you’ll follow her/him alone, doesn’t mean that you will be able to become that person; you won’t even be yourself. Some live their life to the fullest and some do not; some people like to be at work and some like to do art and travelling; some people are happy alone and some like to spend their time with friends and family; some people want to change the world and some people want to change their surroundings only: what you do and from what you get inspired is total different and still can be the same. It doesn’t mean you must be at some place at some time with certain people; motivation is all about handling the uncertain places and situations with different kind of people. (Even if you want to be with a certain your-type-of person, how long does it take her/him to be changed? And well, at the end, situations are always different.)

I always thought that it was my weakness that I needed motivation after some time. To keep yourself motivated is not a weakness. You’re not a robot that always feels the same and is motivated in all the circumstances.

There are two kinds of people:
1. (This one includes me) Who work great under pressure
2. Who can’t work under pressure (You know, who get depressed)

Even I tell my friends to scold me in my reading vacation. It’s good for me that I know what pressure does to me instead of depressing me but still most of the time I’m relaxed. When they think it’s too less time left for exams, I don’t feel that.  (Yes, pressure comes when you’re concerned about that thing.) So, at exam times,
I prefer to read self-help motivational books and to watch YouTube videos.
I make a timetable. (Make one, so that you’ll have at least 3 things done out of 10 instead of doing nothing at all.) (‘Timetable’ chapter (Gujarati) from school time taught me this: make one even though you can’t follow it; at least you won’t regret not making one. Even our railways can’t follow timetable!)

I eat, a lot, (side effects of studying), and drink water in study intervals.

I like writing my diary. (Dear diary, it’s __ o’clock and I’ve read nothing due to__ but will complete at least __ chapters. Saw that video, and I’m gonna apply what the video taught me; let’s see if that works or not.)

There are situations when you want to keep going and for that you want to motivate yourself but get this creator’s block! You have no idea what to do! And sometimes, something (like this tree above) inspires you!

PS. I am writing this blog during my exam time. I know. But it’s because of a secret: I thought I will study more in my TY but I didn’t. Now, you know, exam time is here and you can’t do more than the whole year study (in the last month or week). I did a bit more, due to these motivations! I tried to remind myself how marks used to affect me in school days and my friends and I  used to be ‘rivals’! And a serial which motivated me on the third episode (and which I’m gonna continue watching after my exams because I can’t watch 45 minutes’ episodes); A Dr. about whom I know nothing motivated me (he is not a big surgeon or anything, not even from my family, still); and a random old Mahabharat episode did that too.
