“That maybe happiness is something that we can only pursue
and maybe we can actually never have it. No matter what.”
-The Pursuit of Happyness (2006)
I am happy. Well, I did ask everyone if they’re in search of anything.
So, this one is what I got in one of the answers. Yes, I too am in search of
it. I’m happy, but… (read above quote)
The way we get happy is different. When I was little, for me, happiness
was not going to KG school. When I started going to my primary school, I loved
my routine. There were moments when I had got prizes, and was so happy that I
almost cried living those moments. When I’m living my college life, I’m not so
happy about it not even when I get prizes; but I’m when I’m with my friends
passing comments in the ongoing lecture or when I’m with my whole family. For
me, Happ’y’ness has always been “I loved your work/song/weirdness” (in detail,
of course! That’s how I know that actually you have listened to me or read me)
rather than “Hey, you look good!” (Urgh… I always look good!)
Happy moments are big. Really?
For me, not attending KG was big; getting gifts was big; and now it’s
either very big as getting a job of a millionaire or a little happy moment of
eating an ice-cream (big moment for a child, yeah!).
People often ask me, “you don’t like your college, right?”
And I have to say, every time, “it’s all about the situation.”
It is as simple as not liking my school as all of my batch mates won’t
be there now; my favorite teachers are either there have forgotten me or got
retired from the school (some will be there, still remembering me, but it’s not
the same); and me being too old for schools (which I never thought of actually).
So, right now, I love my college. I want to live every moment of my
college life and I’m living. How I study, what lectures I bunk, is all upon me
and I love it. I know, because I’m firm with my decisions and I’m never gonna
regret a thing. If you’re just going there, for nothing, then don’t push
yourself. I’m not saying you should leave everything, what I’m saying is you
must understand yourself and the way you’re gonna feel better than this. The
way your life makes you happy and the way you make your life happy is up to
you. When you laugh reading or listening to a joke, are you pushing yourself?
No! Happyness comes when you accept who you are, what you do, and what affects
you.
When you think your life is hurting you or God is punishing you, when
you think “Why me?”, there you don’t hesitate for a moment making your
happiness rely on other things. Why do that? When Jerry had this great operation where the doctors and nurses
personally knew him, where they were shocked seeing him happy rather than being
confused or sad for knowing that operation may or may not be successful, he
only said: “Good luck team. I hope you make this successful. Either I’ll have a
few minutes of happy life or I’ll have a long happy life. What I can choose is to
live it happily or not. I chose one option. Now it’s your time, why are you
sad?” and operation went successful. (School-time story)
I like travelling since I was a child. I liked roller coaster and all
the rides, now I don’t. I feel like I’ve wasted my time and money. I like
nature. My friend, opposite to me, likes rides fairly more than nature. She
blames me. I blame her. At the end, we both are happy doing what we love. She
sits in rides; I sit waiting for her outside that crowded place.
Yes, it’s perverse when you feel happy being one Raman Raghav (I’m talking
about real, not the artistic movie with the same name); when you laugh at some
Sridevi jokes; when you’re satisfied seeing someone’s fall in her/his career.
Be happy when you’re promoted, what good will it be to you seeing someone
falling?
- Go somewhere/Be alone for a while.
- Have a get-together with friends (old/new): studies show friends make you happy more than anything else in the world (not even family) about 70%
- Cry for a while.
- Look back to your past. Sweet memories will remind you of the happiness and you’ll be happy. Bad memories will strengthen you for future saying what you did was great. If this is reversed, remind yourself to be happy for everything. Why?! Because, “Happyness”.
- Remind yourself to be happy always. Your heart will be cheerful and mind will like that, so HE will accept it instantly and will follow the lead always.
- Think what makes you actually happy. Do that.
- Make your surrounding colorful.
- At the end,
ज़िंदगीभर जियो, हँसो, मुस्कुराओ,
क्या पता, कल दाँत हो ना हो...
